There have been serious global conversations on how to slow down the rapid degradation of our planet’s climate. Over the years, we’ve had natural disasters and very high temperatures to show that all is not well. These conversations have prompted some measures to be put in place to slow down climate change.

But is it enough?

Many countries worldwide still rely heavily on fossil fuels to power their economies. This doesn’t help us in our mission to stabilize the ecosystem. The situation is dire but there’s still hope.

According to this United Nations article, there’s a lot that we can do to help the ecosystem in our little way. We can pay attention to our recycling, and consider walking or cycling when possible, but most of all, we can switch to renewable energy.

Renewable energy is a healthy and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. It is derived from natural sources like solar, wind, and hydropower. Many countries have started adopting renewable energy solutions for most of their home and industrial needs but we need to embrace this change at a faster rate.

Renewable energy benefits the environment in so many ways. If we had fewer emissions, we could fight against many environmental challenges and improve public health.

If we embrace renewable energy, we could also:

  1. Reduce carbon footprints because we would be burning less fossil fuels.
  2. Reduce air pollution as there would be no harmful gases emitted.
  3. Conserve the water resources we use to power fossil fuel plants.
  4. Reduce waste and preserve natural resources.
  5. Protect wildlife and the ecosystem.
  6. Encourage economic growth and protect the environment for future generations.

Economies that have begun adopting renewable energy – the advantages are numerous. Besides being a healthier choice, it’s cheaper than fossil fuel.

Many countries have used renewable energy to rebuild themselves after disasters, change the lives of their citizens, and make groundbreaking innovations. Some countries like New Zealand, are slowly moving away from oil and gas and slowly adopting renewable energy across their systems.

We have a lot to gain from adopting renewable energy power solutions across the globe. With every hand on deck, we have a greater chance of improving our quality of life and making the planet a haven for future generations.

If we build sustainable systems, we would also be able to redirect energy costs into building much-needed infrastructure to improve world economies.

The movement to stabilize the climate is an ongoing venture but we can even out the odds by fully embracing renewable energy.
